The Thoughtful Gay is a wellbeing and mental health blog for mindful and empathetic gay men who want to forge their own path to healing, self-betterment, and relationship success.
It was founded out of a desire for healthy dialogue about the unique challenges we face as individuals and as a culture.

The Thoughtful Gay was created by Ehsan “Essy” Knopf, a journalist dedicated to improving the happiness of fellow gay men.
Raised in tropical Far North Queensland, Australia, Essy was always fascinated by the role online dating played in relationships at large. His investigations led him to create the web series Lovesick: The Myth of Modern Love.
Ehsan was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome at age 26, a discovery that further fueled his interest in disability advocacy. The result was a feature documentary, Flying Solo, about three people with Down syndrome and the challenges they face on the journey to becoming independent.
Essy currently produces news for 9news.com.au. He resides in Los Angeles.
